7 Ways You Can Be Environmentally Friendly

Being environmentally friendly is an important thing that everyone should consider. Becoming environmentally friendly is imperative if we wish to keep our environment striving and clean. The following are a few ways to be environmentally friendly.

be environmentally friendly

Planting Some of Your Own Food

Planting some of your own food will mean less work for the farmers and a healthier diet for you. Planting food for yourself will allow you to create organic fruits and vegetables that will in turn help your body stay healthy.

Recycling

There are a few different ways you can recycle that will help the environment.
  • Aluminum; recycling aluminum items will use less energy than manufacturing brand new ones
  • Glass; recycling glass reduces air pollution and water pollution.
  • Newspapers; recycling newspapers will save hundreds of trees every week.

Help Air Pollution

There are a ton of ways to help preserve the environment by cutting down on air pollution. This will not only helps to save the environment but will help the health of the citizens of the world as well.
  • Use the bus or carpool; using the bus or carpooling with your co-workers to work will reduce emissions into the air as there will be less cars being driven each day.
  • Use a bicycle; Riding a bicycle to establishments nearby rather than driving will reduce tons of unneeded air pollution into the air.
  • Purchase a “green” car; Cars that have been created as eco-friendly will automatically reduce emissions into the air when being driven.

Conserve Paper

Taking steps to conserve paper will help our trees, which are important for our health as they produce not only a beautiful view but oxygen for our lungs.
  • Use one less paper napkin; Americans use up to 6 napkins a day. If each person used just one less napkin in a day, then there would be up to a billion napkins saved from our landfills.
  • Use both sides of paper; People throw away a ton of paper each and every year. Printing on both sides of the paper will reduce the amount of paper being used and save our trees.

Spread the Word

Telling other people your great ideas to becoming more environmentally friendly will help to influence the world around you and promote eco-friendliness. This will spark a fire inside of your friends and family and they, too, will help to save the planet.

Save Water

Saving water is imperative if we wish to sustain not only the environment, but our lives as well. Water is an important factor for our entire eco-system and will not last forever unless we do something about it.
  • Don’t rinse the dishes; don’t rinse your dishes before placing them in the water and you will conserve up to 20 gallons of water with each and every load.
  • Taking showers instead of baths; Baths require twice as much water as a shower does. Taking a shower rather than a bath will reduce not only water consumption but energy costs.
  • Shorter showers; Cutting your shower time down can save hundreds of gallons of water each day.
  • Brush your teeth without running the water; not running the water while you brush your teeth will help to save up to 5 gallon of water each day.

Plant Trees

Planting a tree is not only good for the air, but good for the land as well. A large tree will also shade your home and cut down on your cooling costs.
